Getting real cold!
Yesterday morning 6-7am outside was -4 degrees F.
And, that is -18 degrees C!!
Now finally the world is much colder than a freezer.
I can't believe I am surviving this weather ...
The semester is officially over for me, as of yesterday.
Yesterday was a day packed with things go do...
Had a Japanese final exam to grade at Smith,
did some final revisions to the papers,
had a longer bus wait and ride to UMass
(Yes, all college students at the five colleges are leaving
the area for Christmas, and the traffic was terrible -
the bus had 60-70 minutes delay),
went to the bank on campus,
printed and turned in the papers!!!
And today I went to the Registry of Motor Vehicles
to take a written exam in order to get a learner's permit
to drive a car.
This is a requirement to get a license in this state
even though I have a valid drivers license from Japan.
The test was easy - only 70% correct is required anyway.
There were tricky questions though - I skipped the whole
Junior Operator License part of the drivers manual
(a special license for people under 21), because they're
not relevant to me, and there were about 4 questions
from this part! That's OK... I passed it at 16/20.
I walked to the Registry, about 3 blocks away from home.
At first I thought of taking the bus and remembered that
the traffic was rather heavy this week.
It's only two bus stops away, and I had seen that
the snow on the sidewalk was mostly cleared,
so I decided to walk but switch to the bus
if I ever feel the sidewalk was not safe to walk.
It wasn't too cold because there was no wind, and it not
too slippery with a pair of sneakers.
I got so warm after walking for about 30 minutes.
The walk was not bad! I should do this again :-)
